Giving young people the tools to embrace their curiosity and explore science.

Youth Science Connection is a free online summer program that allows high school students to complete STEM projects at home under the virtual guidance of a college mentor. Through our program high school students come up with a project that they can do at home, write a scientific research proposal, and make a scientific poster. Youth Science Connection provides a way for high school students to engage with the scientific method at their own pace while also getting to speak to an undergraduate student who can give perspective on what it is like to be a STEM major.  In addition, our program takes place entirely online so students can learn and receive mentoring while still engaging in social distancing. Through mentorship Youth Science Connection ultimately aims to increase the matriculation of underrepresented students into STEM.

Mentorship

YSC Members receive mentorship from experienced undergraduate researchers in different STEM fields to guide them through the YSC resources. All mentoring happens online.

Applications for high school students will reopen in Spring 2021.

Applications to become a college mentor will reopen Spring 2021.

Lab

Learn and practice important scientific skills by working with a YSC mentor to develop your own scientific project. The Summer 2021 Cohort will conduct computational projects. For biology and astronomy this will consist of analyzing raw data from online databases. For computer science this will consist of a coding project.

Hear stories and advice from other STEM students passionate about their work.
